Armin Hofmann (b. Winterthur, Switzerland, 1920) is internationally renowned for his black-and-white posters. The exhibition at Galerie Susanna Kulli now offers the first insight into his intense engagement with color. Its centerpiece is a portfolio of silkscreen prints that is unique in Hofmann’s oeuvre. A lifelong creative interest, issues of color have played a crucial role especially in his decades-long work as a teacher and in his art for public spaces. In addition to the silkscreen portfolio, the show presents manuscripts and original designs from Hofmann’s private archive as well as problems he assigned in his classes. Hofmann’s former students Philip Burton, April Greiman, Aki Nurosi, and Moritz Zwimpfer have contributed recollections that also open up new perspectives on his teaching of color.

10 signed and numbered copies of the silkscreen portfolio as well as selected single prints can be purchased at the gallery during the exhibition.
