The silkscreen portfolio:
A pivotal work
The project’s focus is on a portfolio of silkscreen prints Armin Hofmann created over the course of ten years, from 1989 until 1999. The portfolio illustrates the essential role color plays in his oeuvre—an aspect that has not yet received any critical attention. The portfolio’s twelve pages are fundamentally different from Armin Hofmann’s posters, where black-and-white prevails. Working on the portfolio, Hofmann deliberately eschewed light-dark contrasts, which are crucial in the posters, to focus exclusively on the study of color as such and its effects.
